Professor John Isaacs and Great North Run 2014

Dear friends and colleagues

I’m afraid it’s that time of year again.  I have decided to run the 13.1 miles, Newcastle to South Shields, Great North Run one more time.  This will be my tenth successive year, which is my justification for putting up with the aches and pains for another year.  Also, last year you were incredibly generous and helped me to raise over £4000 for Arthritis Research UK, placing me in the top 1% of JustGiving fundraisers for the year.  And the main justification, of course, is indeed the fabulous charity that ultimately benefits from your generosity.

There are only four weeks to go until the big day and I find myself, once more, in the final weeks of training.  And, once more, during every training run I hear the words in my head, ‘never again’.  But I have practically hit my £20,000 target over ten years of participation, and £25,000 is now looking tempting.  To help me reach this target, this year I will donate an additional 10p for every £1 that you pledge.  So please dig deep, as you always do, and make me wince with your generosity!

You can donate at: http://www.justgiving.com/jdi2014

Many thanks for helping research into arthritis and related conditions.

Best wishes, John
